Little hope for Macclesfield or Peak Forest flights reopening

THE prolonged period of dry weather means there is little chance of either Marple or Bosley flights reopening any time soon.

This means there is no through navigation on either the Macclesfield or Peak Forest canals, Keith Gudgin reports.

Will drop even further

Canal & River Trust tell that it is expected that the water levels will drop even further on the summit pound though it is being fed with water pumped from the Goyt, that is running very low.

With no rainfall there is also of course no improvement in the reservoir holdings that supply the Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals.
