Thoughtless boater?

I TOTALLY agree with you that Canal & River Trust should be more accurate in their closure notices, writes Steve Robertson.

The Dashwood Lock is in the middle of nowhere so it would be fit and enterprising ‘vandals’ that caused the damage.

However, the most likely explanation is a thoughtless boater who used the paddle gate rod to close the lock gate (see attached photo) rather that get off the boat to close the relatively large gate properly.
