Unable to remove debris from river

THE Canal & River Trust is unable to remove debris accumulating in the Ouse.

Debris is piling up as the river is running low, but its only workboat that undertakes debris removal is currently undergoing a re-fit and is therefore unavailable to remove debris, Keith Gudgin reports!

Be vigilant

This means a warning has been issued for boaters to take care and be vigilant for floating vegetation.

When the river is strongly flowing debris is washed down into the Humber, but the low flow is not clearing such debris that is piling-up along the navigable sections of the river.

It would seem the trust sold-off or scrapped too many of its workboats, hence none to spare.
