StensonLeakingBottomCannot be completed

Today, Thursday, we are told the 'essential' repairs at Stenson Lock on the Trent & Mersey cannot be completed because the workers are needed  for 'urgent' work elsewhere', Keith Gudgin reports, he adding:

"If the lock is not working is that not urgent enough to carry on with especially as the work-tools etc will already have been taken to the site?

"Just proves that CaRT just have not got the workforce to keep the network in working order!"

In the meantime Stenson Lock is out of action, but we are informed that the workers will be back at the lock with the hope of completing the work this week-end, and the navigation reopened.  The picture shows the leaking bottom gates stopping the water reaching the level to open the top gates

Swarkestone Lock

Before this, it was Swarkestone Lock, another of the Trent & Mersey broad locks whose work had to be abandoned our being told 'because of 'vandalism on another part of our network'.

In both cases we were not informed of what the works were, and there were no stoppage notices linking to such works...
