Massive flood prevention scheme for the lower Thames

THE Environment Agency is inviting tenders for a massive flood prevention scheme for the lower Thames.

Between Runnymede and Teddington

The flood prevention improvements are between Runnymede and Teddington at a cost of £275 millions, and will result in work on various channels and increasing the flow capacity that will require demolishing some residential properties.

The scheme will also include increasing the capacity of the existing Sunbury, Molesey and Teddington (pictured) weirs and near the Desborough Cut.
