Too much work prevents Huddersfield Narrow lock repair

Published: Monday, 14 February 2022

THE expected work on the broken cill of Lock 24W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has not been started.

Lock 24 DobcrossCanal & River Trust state that this is due to the continued repairs within the North West that is not allowing workers to be freed for the Huddersfield Narrow work, Keith Gudgin reports.

Navigation closed

The cill on Dobcross Lock collapsed on the 17th January with the navigation closed since the failure.

We are informed that the trust's teams continue to organise the required safe systems of work and equipment ready to start the works to repair the damaged cill as soon as able.
