More university canal climate claims

I HAVE seen a report of the Manchester University climate change claims regarding the canals, writes T Lang.

I would like to add to the claim to what Victor reported of the 10,000 homes powered by canal hydro schemes, which is impossible with our very slow moving canals.

Ludicrous claim

But there is another ludicrous claim that in winter the canals can cool a 100 metre wide urban corridor by up to 1.6 degrees centigrade when the water is frozen.

Not withstanding buildings, fences and hedges what's the point of cooling—the reports specifies—in winter and when the canals are frozen?  And how often are the canals frozen?

It all seems rather far fetched.
