Would you drink canal water?

WOULD you drink canal water—if they were used for moving water as planned? Asks Keith Gudgin.

250 years of just about every type of nasty going in to them, would need a drastic dredging programme to clean them up to drinking water quality.

Class one toxic

The dredgings at the moment are graded as class one toxic and need special permission and dump-sites to dispose of!

Still at least if they do become water feeds they'll have to maintain them to a point where the flow is uninterrupted, like the Llangollen?
