Grounded boat cleared off the Soar

THE boat blocking the navigation north of Bishop Meadow Bridge (52) on the Soar has been pulled off.

It was grounded in the silt of the river, with boaters wary of passing in the event they too became grounded, but it has now been pulled off, Keith Gudgin reports.

Silt still present

But the silt is of course still present and deep draughted boats should be wary of the section and of course that at Ratcliffe Lock where the silt is still causing problems.

Even Canal & River Trust is warning that boats with a deep 'draft'(!) should take care at both locations.
