THE body of a 15 years old boy has been recovered from the Trent.

Police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to someone in difficulties in the river on Tuesday, but were unable to find anyone, Alan Tilbury reports.

Body discovered

It was the following day at around noon that the body of the boy was discovered near Swarkestone and pulled out of the river.

This followed an extensive search of the river by specialist teams from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire police, and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service carried out extensive search, with a spokesman telling:

Family made aware

"The boy’s family have been made aware and specially trained officers are liaising with them, but formal identification has not yet taken place."

It has been reported that the death toll of young people losing their lives by downing has reached 13, predominantly in rivers and canals.
