Having a swinging time

THE trust is having a swinging time these days with swing bridge after swing bridge failing.
Or should that be a 'swingless' time, as the bridges are certainly not swinging as Keith Gudgin reports.
Kennet & Avon
The latest to fail is Ufton Swing Bridge on the Kennet & Avon at Sulhampstead, due to an electronic fault, resulting in the bridge being inoperable.
This follows the failure of Dock Swing Bridge at Shipley on the Leeds & Liverpool that is unusable as waiting for engineers to source parts.
Two more failures
Earlier in the month the obviously neglected Leeds & Liverpool suffered two more swing bridge failures—Crabtree and Gawflat, both closing the navigation.
And not forgetting the Weaver with its swing bridge problems.
Not a very good record.
