Several boats ran aground

I HAVE to respond to Andrew G Fall's comments regarding the Stratford Canal, writes Brian D Jarrett.

The canal itself and the countryside it passes through are beautiful. However, running aground did happen to several boats including myself at 2’ 2” draft.

Ran water down five locks

A crew member went up five locks and ran water all the way down to the last lock before the basin. This would explain why the pounds were full when CaRT arrived.

It took from leaving the basin at 10:00am until 18:30 to arrive at Preston Bagot!
