Rochdale Canal open

WITH the completion of the works on the broken lift bridge on the Rochdale the navigation is now open.

The testing of Grimshaw Lane Bridge (75a) has now been completed with the bridge fully operational, Keith Gudgin reports.

Hydraulics

It was an hydraulics fault that prevented the bridge from being operated and thus the navigation closed, with the delay owing to the sourcing of the new part that was required.

Once this had been sourced hydraulic contractors fitted the part and it was just a matter of operating the bridge to ascertain that all was well and the navigation reopened.
