It will be turn-up-and-go through Harecastle in the mornings

STARTING with the summer season Harecastle Tunnel will be open for turn-up-and -go.
As from 1st March boaters will be able to navigate Harecastle Tunnel from 8am to 12 noon every day, Keith Gudgin reports.
Open passages
The trust states that open passages are available from 8am to 12 noon, Monday to Sunday(!) Boats must arrive at the tunnel portal between 8am and 12 noon, with no guarantee of passage for arrivals after 12 noon unless pre booked online.
Bookable passages are available Southbound (Kidsgrove to Tunstall) at 2pm and 4pm and Northbound at 3pm.
Working horn and tunnel light
Passage is only permitted with a working horn and tunnel light. At present these cannot be borrowed from the tunnel staff.
Government advice regarding the pandemic could have an effect on the situation.
