Lancaster Canal still closed

THE damaged Whinnyfield Bridge (34) on the Lancaster Canal has still not been repaired so the waterway remains closed.

It was on the 11th of December that we were told the bridge near Swillbrook had been damaged by a vehicle strike, but teams still 'continue to work together on a method of repair', Keith Gudgin reports.

May take some time

It is understood that the repair may take some time owing to the extent of the damage, and as Canal & River Trust believe it is unsafe for boaters, the waterway remains closed.

There is no intimation as to when repair work will start.
