'Swing bridge team' swings into action

THERE is little doubt that Canal & River Trust now have a 'swing bridge team' on the Leeds & Liverpool.

Virtually every week, even two in one day, swing bridges on this navigation fail, holding up boaters waiting for them to be repaired.

But now there is a swing bridge team all ready and waiting to swing into action when one breaks down, as the New Lane Swing Bridge (31) did at Burscough yesterday, as Keith Gudgin reports.
