CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service are urging people to take extra care when exercing near water.

This has been brought about by drowning in the Cheshire waterways, the latest being in the Weaver at Norhwich, Alan Tilbury reports.

Be Water Aware

People are being asked to take care when exercising near water as part of a national awareness campaign last week called Be Water Aware.

Nick Evans, Head of Prevention, at the fire service, is asking where possible to keep away from open water as you can easily slip, trip or fall while on narrow towpaths or riverside walkways.

Crucial

This is particularly crucial at this time with so many people, perhaps not aware of the danger, taking to the towpaths to exercise during the Coronavirus pandemic.
