Anderton Boat Lift closes on Friday

THE Anderton Boat Lift will no longer transport boats after Friday 17th April.

The lift, that connects the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Weaver has been working, moving boats between the canal and river during the coronavirus pandemic, Keith Gudgin reports.

Direct contravention

This is in direct contravention of its own rules, as the Trust maintains boats should not move.

It tells this is part of its efforts to tackle the virus and reduce workforce within the Trust.
