TO CELEBRATE the start of the new boating season, Anglo Welsh is hosting Open Days at four of its narrowboat hire bases.

These will be on Saturday 28th March, with the events, running from 10am to 4pm, and offer visitors the chance to take a free trip on a skippered day boat, and to find out more about canal boat holidays.

The Open Days

§ Tardebigge on the Worcestershire & Birmingham Canal.
§ Wootton Wawen on the Stratford Canal.
§ Great Haywood on the Trent & Mersey Canal.
§ Whixall on the Prees Branch of the Llangollen Canal.

Emma Lovell, Bookings Manager for Anglo Welsh, explains:

Welcoming visitors

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our open days to enjoy spending time by the water and a free taster session on aboard one of our newly repainted day boats.

“As well as finding out more about our day boats, visitors to our open days can take a look around some of our holiday hire boats to see the high standard of accommodation they provide, with well equipped kitchens, fresh water flushing toilets, hot water showers, comfortable beds, televisions, DVD players and WiFi.”

No booking is required. Trips will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  For more information visit www.anglowelsh.co.uk.

Emma continues:

“Full tuition is included in our day boat hire package, so it’s a great opportunity for those new to canal boating to get the hang of steering, mooring up and working the locks. Our day boats are suitable for up to ten people and they are all equipped with cutlery, crockery, a kettle, fridge, cooker and a toilet.”

Anglo Welsh, which this year celebrates its 55th anniversary, is one of the largest canal boat hire operators in the UK offering over 160 canal boats for hire from 11 bases across England and Wales, with accommodation for between two and 12 people. Hirers are provided with life jackets on request and boat steering tuition as part of all its packages. 2020 boat hire prices start at £575 for a short break (three or four nights) on a boat for four people, £795 for a week.
