Coxhead still closed

COXHEAD Swing Bridge (20) on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has not been repaired.

It was last week the bridge was closed to navigation, being in its 'closed' position, and though engineers have been at the site further investigations are required, Keith Gudgin reports.

Past closures

We are not told of the actual problem, but this bridge has been the cause of closures in the past.  It was out of action on the 12th of February last year, then again on the 11th April.

That latter closure lasted until the middle of June, with it being open for a short period on Mondays and Fridays.  It is hoped this present stoppage will be shorter...
