Macclesfield now closed until March

THE boaters that had booked passage through the stoppage on the Macclesfield have been allowed through and the waterway is now closed until March.

Canal & River Trust tells that all the boats have successfully navigated through the affected area and the stop planks have been reinstalled and the waterway will remain closed until 13th March, Keith Gudgin reports.

Only those booked

It is understood that no more boats other than those booked were allowed through, even though it took little time for passage, it being a 'straight' cruise, with no locks involved.

Those boats who missed the opportunity to get through will have to attempt another passage.  However the Peak Forest too will be closed for five weeks shortly...
