FURTHER ASSESSMENT at Lapworth Lock 4 on the North Stratford Canal is required.

This is for the engineers to fully understand the cause of the issue before repairs can be instructed.

The lock remains closed as any additional use may lead to further deterioration.

Void behind lock wall

The lock is closed due to the void that was discovered on the 8th of December that had formed behind the lock wall.

An engineer has carried out initial investigations at the lock last week, however, further assessment is required to fully understand the cause of the issue before repairs can be instructed.

The trust told it will be consulting with its reactive team to arrange a follow-up visit.

This is awaited, with further information then expected as to the possible length of the stoppage.
