Sunk boat causes more L&L problems

ADDING to the woes of the Leeds & Liverpool a sunk boat now stops passage.

A narrowboat was caught on the cill of the Eshton Road Lock (31) at Gargrave, closing the waterway, Keith Gudgin reports.

Failed to drop the paddles

The crew had obviously opened the bottom paddles whilst the boat was at the back and it caught on the cill and were either taking little notice or had not the sense to immediately drop the paddles, so stood there and watched the the boat sink.

It is now awaiting removal, with obviously no passage until this is undertaken.
