Ribble Link the latest casualty

THE latest navigation closure is the Ribble Link connecting the main system to the Lancaster Canal.

The link was closed yesterday, Tuesday, with the exceptionally dry conditions and lack of water in the reservoir causing the closure, Keith Gudgin tells us.

No alternative bookings

Boaters with bookings for the link across the Ribble are being contacted, but alternative bookings cannot be offered as it is of course not known when there will be sufficient water to re-open the link.

The problem now is for boaters from the main system being stuck on the Lancaster Canal, with the worry that they do not know when, or even if, the link will be open, as it is closed during winter months.
