K&A summit pound closed again

THE usual problems with the pumps at Wooton Rivers have caused the summit pound through Bruce Tunnel to be closed again.

The pumps gave up earlier this week and were repaired, but it seems they are not pumping enough water to maintain navigation on the pound, so it is closed until the level is sufficient, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Working fine

In recent years the pumps have failed quite often, but have been working fine since their last repair in September last year, as it seems spares are now available as this time the pumps have been repaired very quickly.

It is expected the pound will have sufficient water for navigation later this week.
