Stop/go on the Macclesfield

BOATERS considering cruising the Macclesfield Canal should be wary.

Yesterday (Sunday) it was closed owing to yet another 'leak', this time between bridges 26 and 27 at Bollington Aqueduct, Keith Gudgin tells us.

There was fear of losing too much water with stop planks installed at both bridges, with Canal & River Trust remarking that its 'teams' were monitoring the situation,

However, later on in the day the trust told that an engineer had assessed the situation, and the leak was not too bad, so the navigation will be open today, with further assessments...
