T&M closed in three places!

THERE is little doubt that the constant lack of maintenance is catching up, with the Trent & Mersey Canal now closed in three places.

There were the two lock failures on Heartbreak Hill reported this morning, and now there is another lock failure, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Repair

Now it is common Lock (14) between Alrewas and Fradley that is out of action 'until further notice', the reason being 'Repair'.

This time there is no intimation however that the problem has been caused by a boat, but the photograph taken earlier this year shows the leaking top gate and cill.

Six canals closed

At the moment there are six canals closed for one reason or another. Which begs the question—what will happen tomorrow?
