ONE Italian, Maurizio Ulliana from Padua, is perhaps getting mixed-up with the Grand Canal in Venice and the Grand Union Canal in Little Venice, on the Grand Union Canal undertaking a four weeks cruise.
He has started off in Stratford-on-Avon up the Stratford Canal, along the Grand Union to the Oxford and on to the Thames on his way to Little Venice in London, with the intention of raising money for the restoration of traditional boats, Roger Fox tells us.
Single handed
He is at present attempting the journey single handed, with his 40ft gondola certainly causing interest, the photograph by Stratford-upon-Avon Herald showing Maurizio propelling his boat over the Wooton Wawen aqueduct.
At present he is one the Stratford Canal heading for its junction with the Grand Union Canal at Lapworth.
