THREE men on a night out at Liverpool Dock decided to have a swim in the water, but it ended tragically as one drowned.
The emergency services were alerted when it was seen that the three men were in difficulties, and though two of them were pulled out, one could not be seen. He was pulled out later, but had drowned, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Drinking
It was reported that the three, in their early twenties, had been drinking at the bars on the waterfront and decided on a swim, and it was onlookers who realised they were in difficulties and contacted the emergency services at around 9.45 on Saturday night.
One of the men, aged 24, was pronounced dead at Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
The police are asking for witnesses to the incident.
