IF YOU are boating on the Thames at present, beware of a giant inflatable pink dog that is accompanying a team that are swimming the length of the Thames from Lechlade to Putney.
The team of swimmers is involved in raising funds for the UK Stem Cell Foundation charity, with over £10,000 already raised, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Doggy paddle stroke
The idea of the giant pink dog is because the swimmers are using the 'doggy paddle' stroke which allows the head to be out of the water thus enabling them to chat to onlookers and passing boaters.
The pink dog is being pulled by a small paddle boat, and the idea of course is it makes people aware that there is someone in the water.
The swim is being undertaken by a team of 10, whose members take turns in the water and is taking place now, with the swim hoping to finish at Putney by this coming Thursday, 27th August.
