Local council gives cash for marina

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE County Council has allocated the Beckets Park Partnership £204,845, which completes the funding needed for the £2m marina.

This will provide a much needed haven on the Nene, and when built will provide moorings for more than 80 boats and offer overnight moorings near the town centre.

Other funding for the project has been provided through West Northamptonshire Development Corporation and the Environment Agency.

Work is expected to start on the first phase of the project in January, with a completion date of March 2011.
