THE Peterborough Arms by Dauntsey Lock on the Wilts & Berks Canal has been bought by the Wilts & Berks Canal to turn into a visitor centre.

It was closed during April last year by its owner Wadworth Brewery as it was losing money, and was earmarked for development Keith Gudgin tells us.

Tourist destination

The Acting Chairman of the Trust, Chris Coyle believes it can be made into a thriving business as a tourist destination, not only as a pub but as a visitor centre including a café and museum.

As the canal that is undergoing restoration is in water in the area boat trips and boat hire is also planned.
