Boater dies in Harecastle

A BOATER fell from a narrowboat in Harecastle Tunnel yesterday (Tuesday) with it sealed off as an underwater search team searched for his body.

This happened around lunchtime with a crew member reporting it as soon as the boat exited, with emergency services, including the search team being called, Allan Richards tells us.

Found body

The team, in the emergency boat, found the body of a man, that was brought out but pronounced dead.

Formal identification of the man is expected to take place today, and there are specially trained officers supporting the man's family
