Association of Continuous Cruisers crisis

Published: Friday, 16 May 2014

THE future of the Association of Continuous Cruisers (ACC) is in doubt following a mass resignation of its founding members, writes Allan Richards.

All but one officer have resigned following the decision of Canal & River Trust (CaRT) not to implement Roving Mooring Permits.

Dissatisfaction with one person

However, it is not ACC's support of 'illegal' Roving Mooring Permits that has caused the rift but rather founding members dissatisfaction with the one person who has not resigned.

Commenting on ACC's one remaining officer, a member has blogged 'It is my considered opinion that Steve Jenkin is now running the ACC as his own private club. He has manipulated, bullied, and forced out other committee members, unilaterally made decisions, and shouted down those who disagree with him. It is for these reason that I think he should resign immediately....'.

Two options

The blog goes on to state that 'At the moment there are two options for the ACC:

Immediate appointment of an interim council (seven members), whose immediate task shall be the setting up of full and open elections (I do not wish to see Steve Jenkins on this).
or
The winding up of the ACC ....'

In the interim, it is not known if CaRT will continue to recognise the organisation.
