L&L repair reopens Monday

THE reopening of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal where the culvert failed at Rishton has been delayed again.

The culvert liner has been installed, but it was discovered that much more grouting than first expected was needed, so instead of the waterway being open on the 23rd, for the weekend, it is hoped it will be reopened on Monday 25th November, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Re-watered

If all goes to plan, the drained stretch will be re-watered today (Thursday) and tomorrow, to allow the waterway to be ready by mid-day on Monday.  The Canal & River Trust photograph shows the newly lined culvert that caused the problem.
