THERE were two stoppages on Wednesday but it goes on to three stoppages yesterday, Thursday.

These are on the Rochdale, Stainforth & Keadby and the New Junction, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Rochdale has a stoppage at Lock 17, which is experiencing a malfunction that prevents the gates being closed and the lock not holding water. It is expected however that it will be a 'quick-fix'.

Sykhouse Road BrThe Stainforth & Keadby Canal is closed as there is a mechanical failure with Thorne Lock, but contractors should be on site today.

The closure of the New Junction Canal is caused by the failure of Sykhouse Lift Bridge (pictured) that has developed a fault.

Reopening

Only one reopening yesterday which was Huddersfield Broad Canal with a repair to the damaged paddle of Turnpike Road Lock 5.

This was a 'quick-fix' as it was reported broken on Wednesday—just taking a day to repair.
