Not accepting 'Members'.

When Canal & River Trust was first formed, I was a little surprised that the Trustees were not accepting 'Members' but merely 'Friends' who were to pay something in the region of £5.00/month, writes David Probett.

Many similar charities operating in similar heritage/leisure area do not have an annual membership subscription of anything like £60.00/annum.

Make available

Equally, all Registered Charities are required to make available their Annual Accounts, either by post to all members or, upon request to any member who requests a copy.

Oh, I forgot, CaRT doesn't have any 'Members'.

Equally, most large Registered National Charities invite all of their members to attend their Annual General Meeting. True, they do ask for an indication of numbers planning to attend.

Oh, I remember, CaRT doesn't have any 'Members'.

Invited

One would have thought that, at the very least , CaRT would have invited every one of its 'Friends' to the AGM.

Most would not have attended but they should have been offered the opportunity to go.

Am I missing something?
