Reedley Marina to expand

BUCKING the trend of empty berths, Reedley Marina on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is full with plans for many more berths.

Renewed optimism has emerged with a full marina, with plans for a new extension for 64 new berths, Peter Lloyd tells us.

Wide beam

At present the marina has 102 berths, with the new extension differing from the current marina in two particulars. Firstly, at its southern end, there will be purpose designed berths for wide beam boats to moor in pairs.

Secondly, it will be a lay-by design which is cheaper to construct and more convenient for access by the wide-beamed boats which are popular on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

It seems that instead of saturating certain areas with marinas, creating too many berths, there is still the demand for berths away from honey-pot sites,
