Press takes-up Regents issue

THE Press has taken up the story that appeared in narrowboatworld recently, of the complaints against the huge number of residential boats crammed on the Regents Canal that are causing problems.

London's Evening Standard today (Tuesday) ran the story of the boats crammed on the waterway that were causing distress to residents living nearby by their noise, smoke and rubbish, Roger Fox reveals.

Enraged

Residents are so enraged at the lack of anything being done by Canal & River Trust other than that 'Signs forbid use of smoky fuels and remind boats not to run engines between 8pm and 8am', that residents have now confronted the boat owners, but have been met by abuse, it is reported.

The report included that 20 boats are currently moored though there is only space for around six, and mentioned the noise and dirty smoke from cheap fuel.

This was one of the occurrences where CaRT told that it was a charity and as such, do not have infinite resources.
