New CaRT trustee wanted

WITH the early resignation  of trustee, Marisa Cassoni, (CaRT trustee resigns—narrowboatworld 30th November) Canal & River Trust is 'searching for an exceptional financially qualified individual to join its Board of Trustees'.

The Trust is seeking such a qualified trustee to act as Chairman of the Audit Committee and join the Investment Committee. The successful candidate is expected to bring significant corporate finance experience, along with experience at Board or Senior Management level.

Vision and strategy

We are told he or she should have 'an empathy with the natural and built heritage of the inland waterways, he or she will play a key role in developing the vision and strategy of this important organisation'.

Tony Hales, chairman of the Canal & River Trust, expounds:

"This is an exciting time to join the Canal & River Trust, in its first year as a vibrant new charity. Waterways connect communities, bring wildlife into town centres and provide a way for us to get in touch with our heritage.

"Our canals and rivers are enjoyed by boaters, walkers, cyclists and anglers, young and old alike, and it is our passion to look after them for future generations. We are seeking an exceptional Trustee who is as enthusiastic about the waterways as we are and who can play a vital part in ensuring they continue to flourish."

The role is a three year appointment to which the candidate will devote approximately three days a month. The post is a volunteer role and will not be remunerated but proper travel and other expenses will be fully reimbursed.
