Regent's Canal claims another victim

ANOTHER body has been pulled out of the Regent's Canal, this time by York Way bridge in King's Cross.

The body was that of a man and was seen floating in the water, wearing a suit, and was formally pronounced dead at the scene.

The towpath was closed whilst the man, wrapped in a blanket was laid on the towpath under the bridge.

An angler, Paul Jones, of Islington stated:

"I don't know what happened but people are always being pushed in around here. A mate of ours was fishing in his chair when two men came along on a bike and chucked him straight in."

Camden police are waiting for an autopsy to take place, and in the meantime are treating the death as unexplained.

There was a spate of youths pushing people into the Regent's Canal by nearby St Pancras Way.

John Sheridan, Chairman of the Camden Canals and Narrowboat Association, warned:

"After dark, the towpath becomes home to a different class of people altogether. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this man had been pushed in."
