No marina for Hawkesbury

THE councillors at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council's planning committee have reversed their decision to allow a marina to be built at Hawkesbury Junction.

The plan was to built a marina on the former Hawkesbury golf course in Exhall, that is situated between the Oxford and Coventry canals, with permission granted a month ago.

Rejected plan

However, an 'administration error' resulted in the plan being referred back to the committee—that rejected it.

It had been discovered that objectors had not been properly informed on the matter, so it was referred back to the same planning committee, that this time voted a massive 8 to 0 against the plan.

Traffic problems

The plan for the marina included houses, but in the new debate there were objections that these would cause more traffic problems, especially as one of the only two access roads crosses the level crossing at the railway line.

The reason given for the rejection of the application,  was over intensive nature of development and lack of infrastructure.
