Narrowboat fire on Lee

ANOTHER narrowboat has caught fire, this time at Dobb's Weir at Hoddesdon on the Lee Navigation.

It was in the early hours of last Friday (12th) morning, around 2am that the fire on the narrowboat at Dobb's Weir moorings was reported, and was well alight by the time fire crews arrived, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Destroyed

Various fire crews attended the fire, that was doused within an hour, though the interior of the boat was destroyed and its shell badly damaged.

Other boaters on the moorings were awakened by the fire and quickly moved their boats away from the blazing narrowboat, that then sank at around 3am.  No one was harmed by the fire.
