Hire boat burnt-out

HIRERS faced with a flooded Thames vacated their boat on Duke's Cut at the bottom of the Oxford Canal, as they could not return the boat to the Thames base, after completing their holiday.

 

A boater noticed that the empty boat had been broken into, but we are now told it was later fired, with it burned out.

When the river receded, the shell was eventually towed to the Anglo Welsh boat yard near Eynsham.
