Teenager drowns in Thames

A TEENAGE boy, swimming in the Thames at Oxford drowned after getting into difficulties in the current.

This happened near Donnington Bridge over the river yesterday (Friday), with the emergency services called, but though fire fighters managed to pull the boy our of the water, they were unable to save him, Alan Tilbury tells us.

An ambulance took him to the John Radcliffe Hospital in the city, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
