Canal rescue practice

WITH many reports of drownings in the waterways, services around the country are taking the rescue of people seriously.

On Thursday (24th May) Market Drayton fire crews spent the evening practising rescues of people in the water of the Shropshire Union Canal at Tyrley.

Richard Hall's photograph shows the crews using weighted lines and  a looped hose to retrieve 'volunteers' who were in the water, wearing suitable gear of course.
