Hales to go

THE combined British Waterways and Canal & River Trust (CART) Chairman, Tony Hales has intimated that he will leave—but not yet.

He tells that though he will leave the organisation he will wait until CART is well up and running and leave next year.  We have no information regarding Chief Executive Robin Evans, as to whether he too will go, however he seems to be taking somewhat of a back seat, with Tony Hales giving all the quotes concerning the transfer.

The poll

It was a narrowboatworld poll that showed that readers thought they should not be involved with the new charity, with a snap poll in December, asking the simple question Should Evans, Hales & Co remain in office when British Waterways becomes Canal & River Trust? Resulting is 3,742 voting they should go and only 83 voting for them to remain in office.

The '& Co' of course referred to the other directors, that from the results of the poll showed boaters had little confidence.  We should make it clear that it wasn't narrowboatworld that stated they should go, but you boaters.
