English Heritage couldn't stop development

ENGLISH Heritage have been unable to prevent the demolition of historic boat houses on the Thames against pressure from developers.

The development, a joint scheme between Eton College and Bewley Homes won approval by the Royal Borough's urban development control panel for 13 homes on the site of the boat houses,  Alan Tilbury reveals.

Demolished

This means that only the River House, built in 1899, will remain but the others, Winters, Tin Shed and Pilkington Boathouse, that occupy the river frontage, will be demolished.

Both a residents group and English Heritage opposed the plans, but to no avail.
