THOUGH the owners of the narrowboat that sank on the Don Navigation, had no help, the owners another sinking narrowboat were luckier.

The owners of a narrowboat moored on the Avon at Widcombe near Bath were lucky in that the fire service were able to come to their rescue when they realised their boat was taking on water.

Flooding river

It was estimated that the boat had taken on seven inches of water on the flooding river in heavy rain, with the owners calling the emergency services, that responded with two fire appliances.

The fire crews were able to pump the water from the boat and secure it by the bank, whilst the crew of four escaped.
