Two more marinas

PLANNING permission has now been given for two more marinas on the Oxford Canal, both at Cropredy, giving a total of 280 berths.

The largest of the two will be Cropredy Marina, and will be built North the village, above Broadmoor Lock, but permission has not been given for residential moorings.

No facilities

The other marina will be close to the British Waterways facilities at Cropredy Wharf, but again with no residential moorings, and with no facilities for passing trade.

Opposition to both marinas has been considerable. With people at the local primary school complaining that the smaller marina, being next to the school, would be dangerous for the pupils.

Cropredy Marina will be built by the owners of Crick Marina, who believe that the Oxford Canal badly needed more offline moorings.
